I am a 64 year old southern woman, and have always called my father Daddy. He died last month, peacefully in his sleep at home, in hospice care. No one is perfect, including my Daddy, but he was a loving and wonderful father to his three kids and husband to my mother. If I live to be 100, I will always refer to him as "Daddy." And I refuse to let these goons ruin that word, like they have ruined so many other things. The maga goons truly are sick and depraved.

Same here, tho somewhat younger and a guy. My father is "Daddy" and no one else. Ever. Both of my parents refer to their fathers as "Daddy," as does my Grandmother.

Turmp and his MAGAts are sick bastards.

Somehow I don't think Trump is the BIG bad. He's close. But like in Alita Battle Angel, there is always a puppeteer. (or in this case, a poopooteer. )

But I’m already used to calling him by his real name: dickhead.

We did call my beloved father Daddy. He has been gone for 20 years now, and he was a wonderful person. He was a firefighter for all of my life and very beloved in the community. He was also a handyman and could fix anything and did so for everyone in the community. He fixed washers and dryers, put up antennas (remember those?!) installed water heaters, and so on. I thought he could do anything. When he was killed in a car accident, the fire department with firetrucks followed his funeral procession to the gravesite. In the Catholic church at his service there was standing room only. That fucking felon in the Oval Office doesn't deserve to be called "Daddy".

Oh Senator Lindsay, you sweet Summer child - they know exactly what ‘Daddy’ means.

I know. He is commenting as if MAGA is innocent and doesn’t understand what they are saying. The senator’s comment implies MAGA is innocently using ‘Daddy’ in a familial sense. We know they are not innocent.

I was required to address my abusive father as “Father.” If I wanted a do-over—I do not—I would not wear an orange T-shirt of a lying demented pedo rapist felon, marked DADDY.

The 'Strong Father' social model is the core concept in conservatives' worldview. This in turn undergirds their hierarchical vision of how the world-society-humanity should be ordered.

George Lakoff writes about this in practically every one of his articles and books.

The 'liberal' worldview is based on the 'nurturing family' which in turn leads to the ideas of diversity, equity and inclusion.

This view, from their perspective, is both weak and naive, and dangerous to their strict hierarchy, thus deserving of ridicule, and fierce opposition, even violence.

Their need for a strong father figure, a strict disiplinarian who punishes bad behavior and rewards good is so strong that apparently they can project such qualities on a weak, stupid, moronic whining toddler like Trump. And thus be ecstatic when even the word "Daddy" is mentioned in even the most tangential way to him.

Even in the midst, or maybe because of, the current extended episode of his wounded weak inner self-image, his utter fragility and inability to deal with criticism or appearance of failure, on full display to the rest of us.

That's the piece that still boggles my mind.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the Mel Gibson/Tucker Carlson "Daddys home and he's taking his belt off" thing they've repeated many times, like it's the most devastating riposte in the world, Oscar Wilde rises from his grave to applaud them. I'm not 100% on board with the whole psychosexual analysis of Republicans, but Christ on a crutch do they make it hard not to see it.

MY father served his country, honorably in uniform, and was proud to do so. My father hated fortunate son draft dodgers. My father didn't have a fancy education, but was certainly that all children should have educational opportunities. My father didn't cheat on his wife. He wasn't a liar, or a thief, or a con artist, or a quisling. So, I'll pass on calling the Cowardly Quisling From Queens, "Daddy."

Does this mean there's a class-action paternity suit in the works on behalf of the millions of Americans who are being done out of some or all of their education, housing, nutrition and medical care?

If the Orange Turd is our "Daddy", then his wealthy supporters shouldn't be the only ones getting child support.
