I’m traveling right now, as the housekeeping note above says. Watching the news from the US is … weird.

I don’t have any grand or poignant words to say about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I obviously wish it hadn’t happened, as I believe that murdering humans is evil, no matter how vile they are. Also, I would much rather we expose clowns like this and beat them in the marketplace of ideas, so that they may be mocked deep into old age and made to feel bad for the assholes they spent their lives being.

Of course, now that we know much more about the suspect in the murder, I’m sitting here waiting for all the apologies from Kirk’s sick counterparts on the MAGA right, the ones that called for similar violence to be visited upon liberals and progressives, in the name of Christ or whatever they claim to believe in, in response to the heinous act.

But I’m really tired of all the AI memes and Facebook posts about Charlie Kirk getting greeted with a pat on the ass and a “Well done my good and faithful servant!” from his lord and savior Jesus Christ. In that spirit, here are 11 quotes. Six of them come from Charlie Kirk, five of them come from Jesus and his father AKA God. (I originally said it was 10 quotes, because I’m tired and cannot count. Fixed!) If this makes you mad, eat my ass.

Charlie Kirk:

"I have a very, very radical view on this, but I can defend it, and I've thought about it. We made a huge mistake when we passed the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s."

“Reject feminism. Submit to your husband, Taylor. You're not in charge." (Charlie’s very normal reaction to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce getting engaged.)

“If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.”

“Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.”

“America was at its peak when we halted immigration for 40 years and we dropped our foreign-born percentage to its lowest level ever. We should be unafraid to do that.”

“The answer is yes, the baby would be delivered.” (The question was should his 10-year-old daughter be forced to deliver her rapist’s baby. — Ed.)

That’s fucking enough. I literally just grabbed five super asshole quotes out of a trove of thousands.

Handing the mic to Jesus, and also his dad:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”

‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. / They worship Me in vain; they teach as doctrine the precepts of men.’”

“They profess to know God, but by their actions they deny Him. They are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good deed.”

“He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?’

Just some direct quotes. Look ‘em up if you don’t believe me! The first one comes from Matthew, the last from Micah, the other three from other places in the Bible. Some of them describe Charlie Kirk more directly than others.

So, if you claim to believe in what the Bible says …

By the way, all the histrionics you’re seeing online about liberals “celebrating” Kirk’s death are bullshit. Have some people said some unkind shit? Sure. Some things maybe they should not say? Yep. But it’s not the bulk of what people are actually saying about this, and it’s not what Democratic politicians or liberal/progressive pundits or influencers are saying. What the Mourning MAGA are actually upset about is that we refuse to fall all over ourselves to pretend that Charlie Kirk was a good man or that he was some shining light on earth, now extinguished. That we will not join in their weeping and gnashing of teeth to beatify a person who literally spent his short but influential life hurting other people.

Nope, and nope. Not rewriting history because something truly evil happened to him. Fuck you.

If you are offended by the notion that the second bank of quotes might be about the man who spoke the words in the first bank of quotes, you need to look in the mirror and confront the fact that your entire Christian witness is dead and likely has always been.

And if you’re some white lady who thinks she loves her gay friends and Black friends and can’t BELIEVE all these people are saying such mean things about this sweet white Christian boy right now, you need to look at yourself in the mirror and confront the fact that you’re a fraud who never loved your friends in the first fucking place.
