About 45 days ago I made the same commitment to wear a Harris shirt every single day until Nov 5th. Fortunately Etsy was having some great sales and I bought about 25 shirts of varying democratic beliefs. One of my favorites “ Be Glad We Want Only Want Equality and Not Revenge”. The first time I wore one I felt like a had a neon sign flashing on my chest and was so self-conscious about putting my beliefs out there while being such a small blue dot in a red area. Eventually I got used to people staring at my chest without feeling sexually violated lol. Like you said though, I felt like it was important to show support, provide a touch of encouragement for those in hiding, and stop being embarrassed and afraid to be Loud and Proud about democracy. In the last 45 days, I’ve only had one negative encounter. Like you, I find myself being approached more often, not necessarily in political engagement but in things like ‘hey, do you know where the bread aisle is”. I’ve wondered the same things you mentioned. Am I consciously being more approachable or are people glad to see someone supporting what they also believe. I have received many positive comments, passerby’s causally just commenting how much they love the shirt. Sometimes people will approach to ask what the shirt says or what it means. The reactions vary and I’m working on improving my responses to take advantage of the pause and engage in a way that could actually sway minds. Typically I just kind of freeze and smile, never quite sure how much of a public encounter i want to participate in - but it’s a work in progress. I understand there are many ways to get involved this campaign season, a walking billboard has to help.

I have my custom Chucks with HARRIS on one heel stripe and WALZ on the other on now. Over the Vote socks I got from the Harris campaign a couple of days ago. Every Zoom meeting I have for work, I'm asked which campaign shirt I'm wearing today (it's the Harris/Walz Joy Division homage today). I know I'm in my happy blue dot, but I'm surrounded by red.

Thank you for deadnaming Twitter, because screw that guy.

This is the same reason I urge American passengers of my water taxi to “please vote for the sane one” when they disembark. I’ve no reason to expect they’ll be swayed by what their captain thinks but you never know.

There is a backstory there that I think our Wonkette would like to learn about.

I have my own water taxi is one hell of an icebreaker.

Spill!!!

Let's also remind everyone that Hilary did not lose the 2016 election! She won the popular vote! America is ready for a woman to be president!

A few months ago, I got one of those light up coconut trees and put it on my balcony here in downtown Rochester. It’s delightful.

Great point! I've got my Deadheads for Kamala shirt - that starts a lot of conversations 😊

I'd love to put on my Harris-Walz T-shirt, but it STILL hasn't arrived, and I ordered it, like, the day after she announced Uncle Tim as her running mate.

I JUST got the flower hoodie I ordered around that time this morning. I wore it to the mall this afternoon even though it was definitely not cold enough for a hoodie here 😂

I only just got my "When We Fight We Win" mug that I ordered during the convention.

Don’t know how to post photo in a comment. Wearing long sleeved version of that shirt with a breast cancer pink ribbon pin to confuse my brother’s new neighbors. So ready to see Kamala Harris and Tim Walz win this thing and lead these United States 🇺🇸 💙💙💙💙

I honestly believe this could be an Obama level blow out. I don't believe the 47% number for Trump- there have been too many defections and I cannot see where he is picking up the votes to replace those defections- from young white men newly in the electorate? From Latinos? From turning out garbage white people who inexplicably sat out 2016 and 2020? And then you have our side: Dobbs has women scared and furious and running to the polls, and we have abortion access on the ballot in lots of states. Univision did him no favors with Latinos. Young people are increasingly more liberal than previous generations and you have Taylor Goddamn Swift encouraging her legions to vote for Harris. Kamala is SLAYING it- I have not seen someone run this great a campaign in my lifetime, frankly. She's been flawless. Black women are going to crawl over hot coals in unprecedented numbers. A good number of white women too. Many states (including mine, NJ) have since 2020 opened up early in person voting. Mail in and early voting has us voting early in higher numbers than the pandemic. Polls are notoriously shit and weighted to hell and beyond, there are tons of garbage pollsters from GOP firms flooding the averages, and the oligarch media has its fingers on the scale for Trump. Anecdotally I see more Harris-Walz signs in purple areas of PA than I EVER saw Biden and Clinton ones. NO ONE is taking their foot off the gas, especially not the K-W campaign and we're running through the tape....but I am mainlining hope and optimism right now.

Still waiting for my camo Harris hat which I ordered 2 months ago though. Luckily I have different one and shall join your ranks, Evan, in wearing it everywhere I go in these last 18 days. LFG! :)

The early voting numbers are really encouraging to me. No one is that excited to vote for TFG. Which means all those ballots are likely motivated Harris voters.

The Witches for Kamala shirt I'd had my eye on just tripled in price, so I just headed over to Wonkette Bazaar to buy my Kamala shirt!

Oh yeah I wear my camo Harris Walz hat in our local hardware store with glee. I tabled a dem booth at our university street fair, we gave out buttons, laughed, smiled, shook hands. I tell people we must be visible and confident and help others do the same. Did get out the vote walk today for our local party. This is knocking on doors and saying, you get your ballot? You got a plan? You want this sheet of dems on the ballot to refer to? We are prompting dem or dem leaning voters. I do live in a blue area but we need to stoke all our voters. People are jazzed and energized to vote!

I have worn some sort of shirt or button since July 21. Everywhere in Texas. Yes Texas. I have not once gotten a bad comment and in fact most people stop me in the grocery store and ask how they can get involved. We had 40 people show up to our block walk today and I challenged our local group to get 7 phone bank parties and 6 more block walks before Nov 5. We start voting on Monday and I am in charge of a voting site for the next 13 days we vote but everyone else will be out there. I am giddy to see our numbers.
