Lovely readers, hi, hello!
Remember how we talked last week about how there are all these little signs that there might be a wee MAGA enthusiasm problem, based on how those people — who are SO in love with their signs and banners and boat parades — can’t seem to get it together this year?
Like, I went to southern Missouri to go on a river float trip that I go on every year, which is usually ridiculously full of Trump signs and garbage and paraphernalia, and it’s ALL GONE?
It’s the most popular post on this new newsletter so far, so if you missed it, check it out.
Well, I am grateful that because of my day job at Wonkette, I got to be in the crowd last night as Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for president of the United States, and I can tell you for sure that if those crowds are AI, they are a very advanced and realistic kind that makes it feel like the entire United Center in Chicago is packed to the gills and everybody is screaming (in a good way!) and sobbing (in a good way!) and saying that we are going to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as the next president and vice president of the United States of America.
The AI even works if you’re in the room!
So, I’ll have some followup thoughts on all that in the next couple days. I do not believe we have the enthusiasm problems they have. (What a turn of events, right?)
Anyway, please hop on over to Wonkette and see what shenanigans we got up to.
As for The Moral High Ground, today is the day we will divert from our “Friday morning newsletter” plan for the first time, because ZZZZZZZZZZ it is a travel day and ZZZZZZZZZZ.
(Did mention that ZZZZZ? In case I did, then ZZZZZ.)
There are so many new subscribers in the past week, by the way — 5,260 total, as of this writing! — and I welcome you all! Hi! There are also a number of new paying subscribers, and I thank all of you too! Hi!
If you love what you have seen from this newsletter so far and you haven’t done these things, then go ahead and subscribe, and if you can become a paying subscriber, go for that! Help me keep these dang bills paid AND help me keep manifesting my vision for this cool new place that seems to be resonating with a bunch of people.
But first, on this exhilarating night — I’m typing at you at 2 :01 a.m. from Chicago — I must sign off.
Let’s keep taking the fight right to these motherfuckers, and remember — if you’re not a shithead; if you love people; if you live by Tim Walz’s creed of Mind Your Own Damn Business AND ALSO Kamala Harris’s creed that we all should be able to be who we are with pride;
then YOU have the Moral High Ground.
And that’s what this little joint is all about.
Love you all. See you next week, or maybe before then!
Thanks for the update Evan! So jealous that y'all got to be there at this historic dnc. I'm planning on going paid on your Substack when I get paid next. You are probably my favorite writer of all time on Wonkette, and I was excited to see you doing a solo project. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼😊
Our next president looks genuinely thrilled to be out there. That sense of Joy means more to me than you can imagine.
