Manly men don’t spend time whining. Think Pete Buttigieg. They take care of their loved ones and communities. They look out for the marginalized and stand up for what’s right. They support their partners, share burdens, make sure everyone has what they need.

They are NOT performative

bullies whining about how they can’t get drunk and call women “sugar tits” because “culture”.

Pete is another one, like Buttigieg, like Obama, who absolutely drives them nuts. He exudes legitimately masculine strength, and he's ... !!! ... GAY?

I am right there with you. He makes my skin crawl. I mean that with complete sincerity. Am I the only one noticing his trousers hiked above his socks? I am not part of the professional fashion police or even an amateur one, but that is a poor look for someone in his position. It just figures. I remember a job I once had years ago where I worked in a high-end men's clothing store, helping ensure men were appropriately dressed. Gads, these guys are missing it.

The more we observe him in action -- bc we've already had the chance to learn about his loathsome views -- the more I wonder about usha. She has a much more normal facade than he, but she's clearly very disturbed, bc nobody healthy marries someone that disturbed.

Funnily enough I think Zelensky embodies true manly man energy…brave, self sacrificing, hard working, fighting for the vulnerable and you never catch him whiiiiiiining about how he was given a raw fuckin deal being invaded a few months into his presidency. Maybe that’s part of why these lil bitch boys, in addition to being dictator lovers, are so anti Ukraine because the contrast shows what a farce their claims of masculinity are.

Oh I absolutely agree with you on that. Zelenskyy drives them nuts in a lot of the same ways Obama did. Effortlessly cool, smart, strong, brave, not a whiner. All the things they are not.

First of all “masculinity drag” has to get out there in the wild, brilliant!

Second, the words in “quotes”, did jd really say this?

‘He values “young boys in the womb” more than he values women’s lives.’

He did, during the campaign. I remember being aghast at the sheer misogyny of it.

Vance seems to believe that "Locker-room talk" is the quintessence of masculinity and that it has somehow been driven into the shadows by woke. God, how I miss Tim Walz.

Thank you, Evan! Spot-on, as always...

Did JD actually say "we want you guys to thrive as young men and as young women"? I feel like if "guys" want to "thrive as young women", that's cool, but doesn't seem very MAGA to me....

As I have posted elsewhere, JD's just sore because no one laughs at his jokes (remember Diet Mountain Dew?) and there cannot be a single person in the whole wide world who wants to have a beer with him...

Thanks for making me laugh while pointing out the (admittedly terrifying) problems... everything else I read this morning was all doom and gloom, and it's always good to remember that we can always laugh at the assholes.

It's always mordantly hilarious watching MAGA conservatives flail when they leave their bubble. International media don't feel any obligation to sanewash their crap because BIAASSSSSS. Reminds me of Liddle Ben Shapiro having a meltdown on camera because a (right-wing) BBC journalist asked him a tough question.

And British journalists have a history of being painfully brutal. Even to people that they like. It's rather a tradition. Sort of like the way they behave in Parliament. Booing and screaming, it's a tradition. And Americans who are so used to softball worthless journalismare always taking a back by it

Expand full comment
Ethereal fairy Natalie's avatar

Yes. I spent the day just reading the comments, they are fascinating. Like a psychologists dream study, the Shapiro manlet stans, absolutely don't acknowledge that their boy was humiliated, insisting "he won the debate." Dumb asses don't realize a.) he failed massively,

b.) it was an interview, not a debate, Ben's job was to engage intelligently and defend his (fucking horrible) positions which he failed to be able to do.

And the dumb-ass tried to question the interviewer as if it was personal!

The children defending him were even more ignorant! They seem to think babbling nonsense quickly and bullying the interviewer is a successful "debate".

But the best part, is Andrew's point by reading Shapiro's actual book and quoting it back at him, to prove he is in fact a large contributor to anger in American political discourse.
