That was actually one of the waypoints in my political evolution, realizing that "Ford had to pardon Nixon to heal America" was one of those political "facts" i had always been taught, that it was an absolute lie, and that if it hadn't happened, we might be in a considerably better country today.
Roger Ailes (who was Nixon's tv and media aide), never got over Nixon being forced to step down, so he came up with the idea of making a right-wing propaganda news station, eventually he pitched Rupert Murdoch to fund it (who Reagan expedited his citizenship) so he could own the cable outfit.
I remember the day after Trump won in 2016. I cried all day like this year. A very wise man said “Don’t worry there are checks and balances”. I remember being comforted by that, but clearly those checks and balances did not hold. Those checks and balances are not immune to corruption and bad actors. Now those bad actors are being rewarded. The kids are learning, watching and discounting good behavior. This will reverberate for decades. It is painful to realize that our generation let true patriotism backslide and become transformed into ugliness. We need to encourage our leaders to let the preamble become the guiding light for their decisions and actions.

I committed to leaving Amazon even before the debacle with Harris's endorsement. I don't sense much boycott enthusiasm from my liberal friends, however. "It's TOO convenient. It's TOO much cheaper." And it IS insidious for those reasons; or more accurately, for the fact that we perceive it to be so convenient and so much cheaper. In reality it's not either of those things. Plus, I for one, am very happy and excited to be getting off the treadmill of buying crap I know I don't need. It's exhausting, mentally and financially, to try and run that race 24/7/365. And that's what they want from us. We need to rise above our petit bourgeois inclinations and embrace a new, less capitalistic reality. I personally am declaring war on the oligarchs who want us enslaved by "endless savings." I will root out their influence from my life wherever I can. Because it's not just Amazon. The real "savings" are going to start piling up come January, so if you do need to stock up on certain things--by all means, do it now. Just be careful about where/why you buy it.

Evan, I am not even sure corporate media will be around after trump takes office. He is suing CBS and ABC for billions and MSNBC is being threatened by Bannon and Flynn. Comcast has announced they are selling MSNBC. He has also threatened to remove NBC's FCC license in the past. I happened to see a press release from Globe Newswire out of Sarasota. It states Trump Media announces all TV streaming data centers are fully operational. It continues with "Truth Social announced today it has completed the initial deployment of it's cross country network of data centers that power it's custom built contact delivery network "CDN" and all planned data centers are now fully operational. I hope I am totally wrong and way off base but I do question what news will be available to us in the future.
The best way Biden could SAVE AMERICA is to use his newly given Supreme Court powers and declare Trump unfit for office due to his criminal convictions.
What is clear is that the “justice system” is only applicable to some people and not for others. This is already a Third World country and ALL of the leadership has failed us.
